Life on the Go

You’re here because you are on the road consistently for your employer and you want to have (and KEEP) some tax-free mileage money.

Employees

Employees who use their car for work can no longer take an employee business expense deduction as part of their miscellaneous itemized deductions reported on Schedule A. Employees can’t deduct this cost even if their employer doesn’t reimburse the employee for using their own car. This is for tax years after December 2017. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act suspended miscellaneous itemized deductions subject to the 2% floor.

However, certain taxpayers may still deduct unreimbursed employee travel expenses, this includes Armed Forces reservists, qualified performing artists, and fee-basis state or local government officials.

But Don't Worry

Use the below information to approach your employer about getting your mileage reimbursed.

We promise, it’s a good deal for both of you.

How to Approach Your Employer

Inflation is impacting everyone. Business owners and employees alike are trying to stretch their dollars to make life affordable. Believe it or not, mileage reimbursement is one of those things that can really make a difference to both the businesses doing the reimbursing and the employees being reimbursed.

Use the points below to begin the discussion

The Key Points

You Need A Raise

You can get the money you need through benefits, not just flat raises. Mileage money isn’t taxable for either you or your employer. By boosting your salary through this benefit both you and your employer get more capital. Structuring your salary to be part salary and part travel compensation can increase your effective income by 10%

You need to cover territory more effectively

The more time you spend in unproductive territories due to lack of information, the less time you have to spend on more productive territories and the less time you have for your own life.

Being able to prove your productive territory in measurable sales vs service revenue helps both you and your employer know what adjustments to make.

Your vehicle needs to remain in good repair

Your employer, whether they realize it or not, depends on your ability to keep wheels on the road or your job would not require travel. Maintenance is always cheaper than replacement.

Having proper mileage compensation ensures you have ample money to keep your vehicle in good repair. so you can reliably do the job they need you to do.
